Indian School of Mines (ISM) is an engineering institute in Dhanbad, established in the year 1926. It is considered as one of the top 10 technical colleges in India and holds the privilege of being an Institute of National Importance in the country.
Initially, Indian School of Mines (ISM) was started as a mining institute, which later on modified into a full-fledged technical institution of international acclaim offering a wide range programs like B. Tech., M. Tech., M. Sc. Tech., integrated M.Sc., integrated M.Sc.tech and MBA. In addition the School offers M. Phil. and full as well as part time Ph.D. the institute is known for endowing quality education related to the field of Mining, Petroleum, Mining Machinery, Mineral Engineering and Earth Sciences besides training manpower in the related disciplines of Management, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering applied Science and Humanities and Social Sciences.

Indian School of Mines (ISM) is located in the country’s coaking coal belt i.e. Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The institute has a fully residential campus of an area of 88 hectares. The serene campus comprises academic buildings, student hostels and 100% residential facilities for staff’s faculty. The central building of the campus has been awarded with an award of the heritage building that includes several buildings such as mining engineering, electrical engineering and applied Geology.
