Applying for Universität Freiburg Freiburg Admission as stated by the university can be challenging. The university has putforward two guidelines for the Liberal Arts and Sciences (B.A./B.Sc.) program. They are based on the LAS Admissions Regulations (“Zulassungsordnung”)

Following is general application and admission guide for students:-
1. Application: The application process for the Liberal Arts and Sciences (B.A./B.Sc.) program starts at the University’s Study Portal.
For application you required the following:-
•Officially authenticated copy of your German higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur”) or your non-German higher education entrance qualification. The University of Freiburg accepts documents in German, English and French.
•Certified proof of English proficiency at B2 level or above according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The following records are accepted:
TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge ESOL, converted according to the scale of the University’s Language Institute given here,
English language higher education entrance qualification (e.g. British A-levels or the International Baccalaureate),
8 years of English at the "Gymnasium" or English as a major subject (“Leistungskurs”) in your final Abitur examination, you do not need to provide further proof of proficiency.
Native English speakers with according citizenship do not need to provide proof of English.
Curriculum Vitae (in English) and a motivational letter (in English, maximum 1,000 words) that outlines your motivation for studying Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Freiburg. You can find recommendations concerning the letter of motivation here.

The complete application must be received by July 15th (closing date) for the following winter semester. Please note: As starting the Liberal Arts and Sciences program is only possible in October, there is only one yearly application date.
2. Selection
Step 01 – Preliminary Selection-The first part of the selection process focusses on your academic achievements.
Step 2 – Interview- All EU applicants are ranked according to the (converted) grade of the higher education entrance qualification. UCF interviews at approximately twice the number of people for whom we have places in the Liberal Arts and Sciences program.
Step 3 – Final Selection- For the final selection, your higher education entrance qualification grade is modified by the interview score and, if applicable, other achievements. The result is the “selection score” (the lower the better!):
Applications are again ranked according to the selection score. Following a final decision by the Rector, the acceptance and rejection letters are then sent out by the University’s Registration Office. Places that are not taken up by successful candidates are then offered to previously rejected applicants according to their ranking (“Nachrückverfahren”). This procedure may take some weeks for candidates lower on the list.
3. Further Information
Letters of acceptance and further information concerning the matriculation are sent by Mail by mid-August. It is therefore essential as part of your application that you provide an address where you can be reached during August.
4. Transfer students
The LAS program has a limited number of places. Transfer into the program may become possible in very limited numbers only if current students drop out and numbers fall below 60 per year.

Doctoral Studies at the University of Freiburg:
In addition to the „classical“ form of individual doctoral studies, the university offers a large selection of structured doctoral programs in various areas.
Admission to Doctoral Studies
Before beginning work on a dissertation you should apply for acceptance as a doctoral candidate at your faculty in order to secure your (legal) status as a doctoral candidate.
Once you have received a confirmation of acceptance as a doctoral candidate from your faculty, you should either matriculate or register.
Matriculation as a Doctoral Candidate
As per 9 section 4 no. 8 of the Admissions and Matriculation Regulations, students who have completed an initial degree and have received a confirmation of acceptance as a doctoral candidate from their faculty can matriculate as a doctoral candidate of the University of Freiburg by filling out and submitting an application for matriculation

Universität Freiburg Infrastructure

Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg is located in the heart of the city of Freiburg. The Universität Freiburg Freiburg Infrastructure is deeply intertwined with the city. The three large campuses are near each other, the university center next to the historical city center, the institutes quarter, and the engineering campus, but other buildings can be found scattered throughout Freiburg. The University Church, located across from Kollegiengebäude built by the Jesuit order is a distinctive part of the university.
The University Medical Center. The campus is home to the Institut für Mikrosystemtechnik ( Department of Microsystems Engineering) and the Department of Computer Science. With the addition of the Faculty of Engineering, the University of Freiburg became the first classical university to combine traditional disciplines with microsystems technologies.
The University Medical Center (Universitätsklinikum Freiburg) is one of Germany's largest medical centers. The medical center consists of 13 specialized clinics, five clinical institutes, and five centers (e.g. Center for Transplantation Medicine).
Most recently, the University of Freiburg purchased a large historic villa in the district of Herdern, which will house part of the literature and linguistics, as well as history departments of the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies.
The University of Freiburg has a wide variety of rooms and houses which can be rented for lectures, seminars, congresses, conferences, or special events.

Due to the unusually large number of students, there is a relatively high demand for student housing and other types of accommodations. Thus, in spite of the many advantages, Freiburg provides for students, the price of accommodations is slightly higher than in other university cities.

Universität Freiburg Faculty past and present consists of academicians, subject scholars and researchers. In addition, 19 Nobel laureates are affiliated with the University of Freiburg and 15 academics have been honored with the highest German research prize, the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, while working at the University of Freiburg.
Universität Freiburg Freiburg Student Life and Activities:-
Numerous student clubs and associations are the heart and soul of Universität Freiburg Freiburg Student Life and Activities. As mentioned the university borders the Black Forest where the university owns a retreat on Schauinsland Mountain. Fine opportunities exist for leisure and outdoor activities in and around the University. Students from Central and Eastern Europe prefer language studies at the university.
The university provides student housing in its various dormitories, run by the Studentenwerk. The dormitories in Freiburg are operated by other institutions, such as the Catholic Archdiocese or the Evangelical Church. Due to the affordable rent and limited spots, rooms in the various dormitories are very popular.
Many students find private living arrangements, such as Wohngemeinschaften (shared apartments). However, the popularity of Freiburg for prospective students can make finding an apartment or room quite time-consuming, especially before the start of the academic terms. The university also has its own career center.

According to national rankings published by German magazine and periodicals (Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Focus) the University of Freiburg has established itself as Germany's best university. The university's faculties of law medicine, economics, history, English studies, German studies, biology, dentistry, and pharmacology are ranked among the best in the country. A recent study placed Universität Freiburg Freiburg as the third-most innovative university in Germany in terms of total patent applications. In addition to this the university has also ranked for its student support services, facilities, national and international partnerships and efforts towards sustainability.
