Following is all the information you may want to know about Universität zu Köln Köln Admission for undergraduate, graduate and research programs.
International students wishing to apply to the University of Cologne as ERASMUS students have to formally apply for admission.
01. Application:- The completed application form should be sent back to the International Relations Office by
•July 15 for the winter term
•January 15 for the summer term
Please do not forget the signature of your home university on the second page of the application!
PLEASE NOTE: Students of Medicine coming from ERASMUS-partner universities have to send their application form directly to the Centre of International Relations of the Faculty of Medicine.

02. Letters of Admission:- Official letters of admission will be sent at the end of July (for winter term) and the end of January (for summer term).
03. German as Foreign Language:- Detailed information on German Language Courses will be sent out later together with the letter of admission.
4. Housing:- If you would like to stay in one of the University’s student dormitories you can apply for a room at the “Studentenwerk” of Cologne. To apply, please visit the website at www.kstw.de and go to “Wohnen" -> “Online-Bewerbung”. Please make sure that you tick the box “ERASMUS Student” during the application procedure. Application deadlines are also July 15 and January 15. However the University of Cologne advises admission seekers to send their application before the given deadline.
5. Co-ordinators:- For further information on different courses and course registration, please contact your Departmental ERASMUS Coordinator of your department. If you don´t know the name of your ERASMUS coordinator, please check the list "coordinators". If you need any help contacting your coordinator, please feel free to ask us in the Centres for International Relations (ZIB) of your faculty or in the International Office.

For the KLIPS registration, you only need a Smail Account (free internet mailing account) of the University of Cologne. Please register with your "Matrikelnummer" and your PIN online on the website of the RRZK (central computer centre).

Research Programmes:-
Application:- The application procedure for admission to CGS is online only! Since your registration as an applicant and your application form are submitted in one document, it is essential for you to read this entire section carefully so that you do things in the proper order. Note that you will not be able to change your data once it has been submitted.
Application procedure starts February 10.
The deadline for all applications is April 30, at 12pm (midnight).
Interviews with selected candidates will be conducted May 7 and 8 in Cologne.

Step 2: Submit Supplementary Application Materials as requested by CGS
Application Materials
After you have registered, you will be asked to submit your application forms. These should include:
•A cover letter with a clear statement of your motivation and your research interest
•Curriculum Vitae
•A list of possible dissertation topics with a short explanation of each
•Abitur-Zeugnis (for German residents only)
•GMAT/GRE and TOEFL (for non-German residents only)
•Scans of official academic transcripts
•Scan of your last degree awarded
•Two recommendations to be filled out on-line and submitted directly to CGS by two referees
•We will only consider complete applications. Applicants should also inform their referees about deadline. On April 30, at midnight the online platform will be closed and no further recommendations will be possible.
Note: Non-European students please provide us with your original grade and indicate the equivalent according to the German system (German system: 1=very good, 2=good, etc.)
GRE or GMAT is mandatory for all non-Germans. There will be no exceptions. In addition, all applicants need to document very good English skills (TOEFL, IELTS or extended stays in English-speaking countries.) Please refrain from contacting us about this via email. Thank you for your understanding.
For Referees:- You have been asked by an applicant to the Cologne Graduate School in Management, Economics and Social Sciences to write a letter of recommendation. Please refer to the applicant's Registration Code as stated in the e-mail you will receive from us once the application process has started. The deadline for all recommencations is April 30, midnight!

The main campus of the University of Cologne is located in Lindenthal. The old premises ( Neustadt-Süd) is now being used for the Cologne University of Applied Sciences.
Initially, the university was composed of the Faculty of Commerce, Economics and Social Sciences (successor to the Institutes of Commerce and of Communal and Social Administration) and the Faculty of Medicine (successor to the Academy of Medicine). In 1920, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts were added, from which latter the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences was split off in 1955 to form a separate Faculty. In 1980, the two Cologne departments of the Rhineland School of Education were attached to the university as the Faculties of Education and of Special Education.
