Mayo College is a boy’s independent boarding school in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Founded in the year 1875, it is one of the oldest public boarding schools in India. The British built Mayo for the sons of the Indian upper classes, particularly the princes and nobles of India. It is considered among the better known boarding schools in the world and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education - CBSE. The School has 12 Boarding Houses - 8 Senior Houses, 1 Holding House & 3 Junior Houses, home to over 800 boys from Class IV to XII.
Admissions:
Common Aptitude Analysis for admission to Mayo College is held in the 3rd week of November every year at various centers in India.
Parents are notified in the month of August preceding the year in which admission is sought. Only the student who are eligible as per their previous Class of study and who are registered for admission are allowed to take the Aptitude Analysis.
Brothers of present student and children of Old Boys are given weightage.
Admissions are finalized by the Education Committee comprising members of the Board of which the Director is a member. The merit list is drawn on the basis of performance in Aptitude Analysis and those who qualify are asked to appear for an interaction in the month of December, January or February. Admissions are finalized on the cumulative performance of Aptitude Analysis and the interaction. The new entrants join in the month of April.
