Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test better known by the name TANCET 2023 exam is a common assessment conducted for admission to post graduate Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) course and also to post graduate programmes of Engineering (M.E), Technology (M.Tech), Architecture (M.Arch) and Planning (M.Plan) in colleges of Tamilnadu. Administered by Anna University on behalf of the Government of Tamilnadu this test is important for candidates wishing to seek admission to post graduate degree programmes in colleges of the state. The exam is also open to non residents of the state of Tamilnadu.

Graduates in any stream are eligible to apply for this test. Students pursuing their final year/ semester exam of graduation are also eligible to apply for this exam.

TANCET 2023 Eligibility:-

MBA -
 
A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained at least 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.
 
a) 10 + 2 + 3 / 4 /5 years pattern
or
b) 10 + 3 years Diploma +3 years pattern
or
c) B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Pharm.
or
d) (i) 10 + 2 + AMIE
or
ii) 10 + 3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE.
 
MCA - 
 
A pass in a recognised Bachelor's Degree of minimum 3 years duration in B.C.A. or B.Sc. (Information Technology / Computer Science or equivalent), or a pass in a recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration (in disciplines other than the ones mentioned above) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduation Level and obtained at least 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examinations.
 
a) 10 + 2 + 3 / 4 / 5 years Pattern
or
b) 10 + 3 years Diploma + 3 years Pattern
c) (i) 10 + 2 + AMIE*
or
ii) 10 + 3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE
 
 
M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch./M.Plan -
 
a. A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the relevant field and obtained atleast 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.
 
i) B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. Degree Programmes
or
ii) B.Pharm. Degree Programmes
or
iii) Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts, which are prescribed.
 
b. i) 10 + 2 + AMIE
or
(ii) 10 + 3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE.

TANCET 2023 Syllabus:-
 


TAMCET MBA Syllabus -

The question paper will have sections to

i) Evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations.

ii) Evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension.

iii) Evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level.

iv) Test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of mathematics and use of day-to-day facts.

v) Test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.

TANCET MCA Syllabus -

The question paper will have the following sections

i) Quantitative ability
ii) Analytical reasoning
iii) Logical reasoning
iv) Computer awareness

A few questions may also be on verbal activity, basic science etc.

TANCET preparation is similar to the preparation you once put for your college examination. TANCET exam is a test of  your basics ,depth of knowledge and also presence of mind. Prepare a timetable for study . Work on your strengths and even more on your weaknesses. Solve sample papers as this will help you to be accustomised to the exam. Make notes of what you study and most of all devote sufficient time for revision. Do not worry and just stick to the basics.
