Every year, State Bank of India accepts online applications from eligible and interested aspirants for appointment as Assistants in clerical cadre in State Bank of India. Graduates in any stream aged between 20 and 28 years of age, intent on rewarding career with SBI as an assistant can apply. Eligible and interested applicants can apply for vacancies in one state only and will have to appear for the test from an examination centre for that particular state. At the same time applicant can apply once for SBI Assistant Exam.
Eligibility for SBI Assistants Exam:
•Age Limit: Persons aged between 20 and 28 years are eligible to apply.
•Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3 years
- PWD (Gen): 10 years
- PWD (SC /ST): 15 years
- PWD (OBC): 13 years
• Educational Qualification: Degree (Graduation level) from a recognized university.
SBI Assistants Job Description:
An SBI Assistants Job description is different from other public sector banks in India. The reasons for this being the size of the organization and the various banking functions. An assistant is delgated to assist in general banking and administrative functions and various other tasks from time to time. An assistant in SBI undergoes rigorious training and is also exposed to various banking functions such as accounting, marketing, investment, billing, finance, human resources, forex, agriculture banking and general banking.
SBI Assistants Exam Application/Registration Procedure:
- Apply online through Bank’s websites www.statebankofindia.com or www.sbi.co.in.
- You are requested to register yourself online on the bank's website.
- You should have valid email ID which should be kept active till the declaration of results. (This will help you in getting your call letter/interview advices etc by e-mail).
- Before applying online you are required to have a softcopy of your passport sized photograph and signature.
PHOTOGRAPH IMAGE:-
- Photograph must be a recent passport size colour picture.
- The picture should be in colour, against a light-coloured, preferably white, background.
- Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face
- Dimensions 200x 230 pixels (preferred).
- Size of file should be between 20kb–50kb.
SIGNATURE IMAGE:-
- You have to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.
- The signature must be signed only by you and not by any other person.
- If the Applicant’s signature on the answer script, at the time of the examination, does not match the signature on the Attendance Sheet, the applicant will be disqualified.
- Dimensions 140x 60 pixels (preferred).
- Size of file should be between 10kb–20kb.
- Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 20KB.
After registration of SBI Assistants exam online application you are required to pay application fee.
SBI Assistants Exam application fee:
- SC/ST/PWD/XS Rs. 100/- (Intimation Charges only)
- General and OBC Rs. 450/- ( Application fee including intimation charges)
SBI Assistant Exam application fee can be paid either online(using Debit/Credit card /Internet banking) or off line mode.

SBI may arrange pre-examination training at certain centres for SC/ST/XS/Religious Minority Community candidates in consonance with the guidelines issued by Government of India.

SBI Assistant exam paper pattern:
SBI Assistant exam will be conducted online and will consist of the following sections.
(i) General Awareness
(ii) General English
(iii) Quantitative Aptitude
(iv) Reasoning Ability
(v) Marketing Aptitude/Computer Knowledge.
The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be bilingual i.e., English & Hindi. Each test will be of 40 marks.For these objective type tests of total 200 marks, candidates will be given a composite time of 2 Hours 15 minutes There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4 th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.
The passing marks in each of the tests will be decided by the Bank on the basis of the performance of all the competing candidates taken together in each test to a minimum required level. Candidates are also required to score a minimum percentage marks on aggregate (For SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates, 5% relaxation available thereon) for being considered for interview. Minimum percentage marks on aggregate will be decided by the bank.
