Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is conducted for admission to class VI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalas located across the country in 28 states and 7 union territories. This exam directed by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti aims at selecting the best students for study at JNV schools in India. At present there are 636 schools of the samiti through out the country. A maximum of 80 students are admitted in Class VI in each vidyalaya through this selection test. The exam is conducted at the start of the year while JNVST results are declared by the end of May of the year of admission.

  • To provide all round quality education to talented children from rural areas. 
  • To ensure that students obtain a competency in three languages. 
  • To promote national integration.

The following documents in soft form (.JPG format of size between 10 to 100 kb) may be kept ready for registration:

Certificate verified by the Head Master mentioning the details of candidate in the prescribed format
Photograph
Signature of parent

JNVST 2023 Syllabus:
 
Section 1: Mental Ability Test (MAT) -
 
This is a non – verbal test. Questions are based on figures and diagrams only. 
 
Section 2: Arithmetic Test -
 
1. Number and numeric system.
2. Four fundamental operations on whole number.
3. Fractional number and four fundamental operations on them.
4. Factors and multiples including their properties.
5. LCM and HCF of numbers.
6. Decimals and fundamental operations on them.
7. Conversion of fractions to decimals and vice-versa.
8. Measurement of length, mass, capacity, time, money etc.
9. Distance, time and speed.
10. Approximation of expressions.
11. Simplification of Numerical Expressions,
12. Percentage and its applications.
13. Profit and loss.
14. Simple interest.
15. Perimeter, area and volume
 
Section 3: Language Test -
 
The main purpose of this test is to assess reading comprehension of the candidates. The test consists of four passages. Each passage is followed by 5 questions. Candidates shall read each passage carefully and answer the questions that follow.
 

 

 
JNVST 2023 Paper Pattern:-
 
 
The selection test will be of two-hour duration from 11:30 am to 01:30 pm and will have 3 sections with only objective type questions. There are 80 questions in all for 100 marks. 
 
Type of Test - Number of Questions - Marks - Duration -
 
Mental ability Test - 40 Qs - 50 Marks - 60 Minutes
 
Arithmetic Test - 20 Qs - 25 Marks - 30 Minutes
 
Language Test - 20 Qs - 25 Marks - 30 Minutes
 
Total - 80 Qs - 100 Marks
 
1.25 marks will be given for every correct answer.
 
No negative marking will be done.

 


 
JNVST 2023 Preparation:
 
Following are some useful tips for JNVST 2023 Preparation 
 
01. Prepare a timetable of study for the test. Do so understanding your strengths and weaknesses.
02. Allocate sufficient time for preparation as each section of the test is important. 
03. Practise sample papers of previous years.
04. Revise what you study on a regular basis. 
 
Subject-wise JNVST preparation: 
 
Mental Ability Section: Mental Ability section is aimed at testing mental functioning and consists of questions with figures and diagram. For this section practise questions pertaining to mental ability on a regular basis. 
 
Arithmetic section: The purpose of this section is to test your skills in maths. For mathematics as well regular practise is the key. 
 
Language Test: To do well in this section all you need to do is read books/newspapers  and also solve english comprehension passages.
