Since past few years, employment in India is at its best; never mind the insecurity that dangles over the Indian economy. As far as Civil Services are concerned, IPS has no analogous in terms of above mentioned traits. Like IAS, IPS too makes an integral part of the Indian system. IPS comprises of higher level police officials, especially concerned with the maintenance of law and order across the country.
But, IPS service has an outer surface that reflects only few attributes like comfortable job and numerous benefits. However, the job consists of massive challenges that require a perfect skill to tackle.
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2023 i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1991 and not later than 1st August, 2002 .
The upper age-limit prescribed above will be relaxable -
up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe;
up to a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
Minimum Educational Qualification -
A candidate must hold a Graduate degree from recognised university.
Candidates who appear at qualifying examination will also be eligible for admission to the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination.

Note 1 : Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
Note 2 : The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.
Note 3 : It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in both the Papers of Civil Services (Prelim) Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate will be disqualified in case he/she does not appear in both the papers of Civil Services (Prelim) Examination.
IPS 2023 Pattern:-
A. PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION -
The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each.
Note -
(i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions) and each will be of two hours duration.
(ii) The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
(iii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.
