Jamia Millia Islamia is a central university that offers dual mode of study ie regular and distance mode. The university launched the Center for Distance and Open Learning with the assistance of the Distance Education Council (DEC) to provide opportunities for students who are not able to complete their higher education or need for specialization by the conventional mean. The center also provides Urdu proficiency course formerly known as the Urdu Correspondence Course.JMI offers graduate and post graduate courses in faculties of arts,commerce, science,education and management. Diploma programmes are offered in subjects of electrical engineering, power generation engineering, early childhood care education and computer and information technology. The mode of instruction for these courses include printed self study material which is supplemented by video and audio programmes.
