The Institution was established in the year 1990 by two well known industrialists Dr. R. Rangarajan and Dr. R. Sakunthala Rangarajan. Vel Tech institute has earned accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi for all the eligible degree programmes. It has an intake of 120 students for MBA.
It focuses itself on research areas in cutting edge technologies to enable a sustainable and inclusive growth. The continuous encouragement, support and monitory benefit from the management has resulted in more than 400 research publications. Being affiliated to Anna University, the college offers MBA and MCA programmes.

Admissions:
Applicants willing to seek admission in the institute can register through online or offline process. Application forms will be available on the official website of the institute. 
Institute accepts valid scores of TANCET & CET entrance tests. Along with the scores, candidate should be 10+2 and should possess minimum 50% of marks in his/ her studies have studied mathematics as one of the subjects in their Higher Secondary level from any recognized university. 
Selection will be completely done on the merit basis and will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
Registration fees is Rs. 500/-
