Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute is one of the oldest technical institutes in Asia that was established in the year 1887. VJTI, formerly Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute was set up under the aegis of the Government of Maharashtra. It was given its present title on January 26, 1997. The institute has been accredited with five stars by NAAC. The college is known for world class training in the field of technology and engineering through its Diploma, Under Graduate and Post Graduate programs.

Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute is a premier engineering institute with exceptional worldwide linkages, strives at the holistic formation of the world class leaders with unmatched pedagogy and excellent infrastructure. Being one of the top engineering colleges, it offers four years full time course of B. Tech in nine different disciplines. It also provides two years full time Master degree in Technology i.e. M.Tech. Other Diploma programs include Diploma in Textile Design, Civil Engineering and Industrial Engineering.

Facilities:

Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute is located in Mumbai and has been accorded with the modern infrastructure facilities. The institutes' Hostels, which offer accommodation for a total of 554 students, are located at the southern end of the campus. They comprise four blocks A, B, C, and D. Accommodation is given to 110 new students in all branches every year on the basis of merit-cum-need. Preference is given to students residing outside the city of Mumbai. There are four messes run by students.
