Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology is a public technical institute in Surat that was established by the Government of India in the year 1961. The institute is known for offering excellent technical training to those students who want to enter into the evergreen field of engineering. The institute has created its own identity as one of the oldest engineering institutes in India by generating highly qualified professionals in the field of Technology.

The institute offers undergraduate degree course in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in six engineering disciplines. It is a four years program that is divided into eight semesters. Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology offers postgraduate programmes including Master of Technology (M.Tech.) and Master of Sciences (M.Sc).  Apart from all these courses, the institute offers the Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) as part of its program in all disciplines.

Facilities:

The campus is located near Ichchhanath in the city of Surat. The campus is spread over 265 acres of lush green forest. SVNIT Surat has nine academic departments in addition to laboratories and central research facilities. The institute's academic facilities are located in the north-western part of the campus; these include the department buildings, laboratories, lecture halls, the computer centre and the central library. Each department has its own library, in addition to the central library.  There are 11 hostels, out of which two are for girls.
