Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi is a pioneer medical institute especially for women, which was founded in the year 1914. The college was named after Lady Hardinge the wife of then viceroy Lord Hardinge. Since its foundation, the college has created its separate identity for generating some highly qualified professionals in the field of Medicine.

Initially, the medical course used to be for the duration of 7 years including two years of pre-medical intermediate science course. But in 1935, when the pre-medical intermediate science department closed, the duration of the course was reduced to 5 years.
