Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, properly JIIT Noida is a deemed university that was founded in year 2001 by Jaypee Group. Initially, it was affiliated to the state university Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, but later in the year 2004 it was accorded with the status of a deemed University.

Jaypee University of Information Technology is known for offering a wide range of undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral level programs. Being one of the most reputed deemed universities in India; it also has a separate department for Biotechnology. The department for Biotechnology offers two years full time course of M.Sc in Biotechnology.
