Hotel Management is one of the leading industries creating a wide scope for employment.  This field is known for generating big revenues in the Indian economy as many of the foreign hospitality industries have established their foot in the country in past last decade. The shortage of acute trained manpower and keeping in mind the changing scenario, IHM established its branch in Kolkatta way back in the year 1963. The institute had a modest beginning with only 16 students in its temporary campus in convent road. Since then no looking back and today it has emerged as one of the most flourished names in the field of hotel management.

The institute offers three years full time under graduate course of B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, which is National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and Indira Gandhi National Open University.


Admissions:

Minimum Qualification :

Minimum qualification for admission is a pass certificate in the final examination of 10+2 system or its equivalent. The candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination. Those appearing in 10+2 final or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2005 for being considered on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted to the concerned Institute by a stipulated time. If an applicant is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will be cancelled. Admission will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/documents to be produced by the candidate. Decision of National Council regarding eligibility shall be final.

Facilities:

IHM – Kolkatta is located on Tartala road. It has Wi-Fi enabled campus. The Institute has highly qualified and experienced teachers with reputation in their areas of specialization. It has a big library that has more than 8000 books. The institute also features five fully equipped kitchen / bakery & confectionary department. During Second Year Degree, the students have to undergo Industrial training in various Hotels for six months.
