DAV College traces its origin to year 1958, when Chandigarh was in its immaturity after independence. The college has grown with the city. It belongs to the family of the famous institutions, which was established by Mahatma Hans Raj. Currently, it is managed by the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Management Society. It is affiliated with Punjab University.

Being one of the prestigious degree colleges in Chandigarh, it is known for imparting quality education in the field of disciplines like Arts, Commerce and Science. It offers  B.A.(General-Pass Course), B.A.(Hons),B.Com, B.Com.(Hons), B.C.A, B.B.A, B.Sc.(with Bio-informatics as one of the elective subjects), B.Sc.(Hons) Bio Technology, B.Sc.(Hons) Bio-Informatics, B.Sc.(with Biotechnology as one of the elective subjects), B.Sc.
