Coimbatore Institute of Technology is one of the leading engineering institutes in the state of Tamil Nadu. It was established by V. Naidu Educational Trust in the year 1956. Initially, the college was affiliated to Madras University; later on it was brought into affiliation with Anna University in the year 2001. All the programs that are offered by the institute are approved by A.I.C.T.E.
The institute is known for providing quality education with its wide range of under graduate and post graduate courses in the field of engineering. The institute offers four years full time course of B.Tech in different branches such as Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical & Electronics engineering, Electronics & communication engineering, Computer Science & engineering, Chemical engineering and Information Technology.
Coimbatore Institute of Technology also endows a unique five year integrated academic program specially designed to mould the students into complete, competent and confident software professionals with sound knowledge in the Software Engineering principles with theory and practice. The program includes two semesters of project carried out at the industry. It also offers two years full time Master level program in Technology (M. Tech) in various disciplines.
Coimbatore Institute of Technology is located on one of the National Highways i.e. NH-47 in Coimbatore. The total campus area of the institute is 28.0522 hectares with a built up area of 40000 sq mt. The campus has several buildings that host various laboratories and departments. All the labs are well furnished with highly maintained equipments and machineries. The campus also has a big playground that is used for carrying out various extracurricular activities. There is a separate Library block, state of the art Auditorium, a Guest House, a Canteen, Hostel blocks and a Bank. The institute also offers separate hostel facility for boys and girls.

The Institute has a Placement cell headed by a staff member holding the rank of a Professor. The Cell is involved in securing placements for students passing out from the institute. The office keeps close association with various industrial establishments, which conduct pre-placement presentation, campus interviews and select student representatives from each department to co-ordinate the placement activities.
