The existence of Ambedkar Medical College in Bangalore can be traced back to the year 1981, when a group called Ananda Social and Education Trust realized the need for a teaching hospital for local students. The institution is known for imparting quality medical education both for Undergraduates and Post graduates students. It is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and is accredited with the Medical Council of India (MCI).

The College offers a wide range of medical and para medical courses.  Undergraduate courses include Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology, Bachelor of Science in Radiography, Bachelors of Science in Physiotherapy.

Ambedkar Medical College also provides excellent facilities for Postgraduate courses such as Doctor of Medicine in Anatomy, Anesthesiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Forensic Medicine, General Medicine, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Physiology and Master of Surgery in E.N.T, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedics.


Admissions:

Eligibility Criteria :-

The Candidates should have passed MBBS Degree examination from a recognized medical college affiliated to any University in India and recognised by Medical Council of India.

Candidates should have completed 1 year of compulsory rotating internship from the same college or as approved by Medical Council of India

Candidates should have registered their MBBS Degree with the respective state Medical Council.



Facilities:

The institute has its campus on 25 acres of land at Khadugondonahali in Bangalore. The library has a sufficient number of text books in all subjects. It also hosts a good collection of specialized journals and magazines. The campus is divided into cluster of buildings that have several medical and Para medical departments and laboratories. It has two hostels, one for boys and another for girls. The hostels feature spacious rooms, special lounges with TV sets and other modern amenities. The blend of all these modern facilities is conducive for all round development of a candidate pursuing higher medical education.
