A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences is a dental college that was established in the year 1985 by the Nitte Education trust. The institute has created its own identity as one of the oldest dental institutes in India by generating high quality medical professionals in the field of dentistry. The college is affiliated to two leading global universities i.e. Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and Okoyama University Dental School, Japan. It is recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI).
The institute offers undergraduate degree course in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) for the duration of five years, Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) for three years and two years Doctoral Programme in Dentistry (Ph.D). For BDS, the candidates should have passed 12th STD with an aggregate of minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology as their core subjects. Minimum qualification for MDS is that the candidates should have BDS degree and for Ph.D, he/she should have MDS degree.
A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences is situated in the lavish locality of Deralakatte near Mangalore city. Being one of the leading dental colleges, the campus has various buildings that host a wide variety of departments such as Dentistry, Oral pathology, Orthodontics, Radiology, Pedodontics and etc. The campus has high-quality science labs, well maintained books and computer library, Conference halls and contemporary class rooms. It also allows hostel facilities for both boys as well as girls.
