1. Common Admission Test (CAT): It is the most popular MBA entrance test in India. And it is the toughest one as well. This test is conducted by the IIMs for admission to their postgraduate courses.
CAT paper format: The exam paper is split into two sections. There will be 60 multiple choice questions. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours and thirty minutes. Each section has 70 minute duration plus a 15 minute tutorial. The CAT exam will test the Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and Verbal Ability of the student.
2. CMAT (Common Management Admission Test): The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) of India conducts this national level entrance test for admission to all the AICTE-affiliated colleges. The exam will be conducted twice every year from 2013.
In addition to Indian students, the AICTE has decided to enable the NRIs and PIOs (People of Indian Origin) too sit for this exam. In order to be eligible for this exam, the student needs to have atleast 50% passing from any discipline.
CMAT paper format: The duration of the test is 3 hours. It has four sections (Quantitative technique, Logical reasoning, Language comprehension, General Awareness) on which the students will be tested. Each section will have 25 questions. There is also negative marking as well.
3. XAT (Xavier Admission Test): It is another popular MBA entrance exam in India. This exam is conducted by XLRI College, Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). The college conducts this exam for admissions to its BM (Business Management), PMIR (Personnel Management and Industrial Relations) and GMP (General Management Program) programs. To be eligible for this exam, the students should have either cleared their graduation from a recognized university. Those who have appeared for their final year exams and are waiting for the results can also appear for the exam.
XAT paper format: The XAT exam paper tests the students in Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, Verbal and Logical Ability, and Decision Making skills. The total number of questions is 91. There is also an Essay & General Awareness section too. The total duration of the exam is three hours.
